R.I.P., Kodak?
It’s sad to hear this! :( Since young, I have been buying my films from them. Reading this and knowing that the brand might go down in history just bring back lots of memories, way back to my childhood ever since I know what a camera is.
I agree with what is written in the article, that Kodak has not been in touch with the technological advancement. But lately, I have seen people becoming more interested in film cameras such as polaroid (I have to admit that the films are super expensive!).
Yet, in this digitalized world, don’t we just need that bit of manual and nostalgia? Don’t we just need to seek a balance between the new and the old?
The world of photography without films is like a world without toys (sadly, this seems like what the world is heading towards).
But back to reality: only the fittest can continue to ride on the economic wheel. That’s how the world is and I have to say, it’s an amazingly upsetting fact.
I just hope film shops will still be around… I love the nervousness of clicking on the shutter for a film camera and the anticipation of waiting for the photos to be developed.
Now, where should I get my films…? :(
